Naughty Bean Coffee has been roasting away in the foothills of Coromandel since early 2015 after the purchase of a New Zealand made ‘Stonka’ roaster from Christchurch.
BUT, the name Naughty Bean and the desire to roast our own coffee actually began a couple of years earlier after a day of scooter action visiting heaps of the small coffee growers perched on the side Mount Batur’s large caldera wall in the Kintamani district of Bali and the following evenings ‘Bintang’ (Indonesian Beer) fueled coffee empire session.
We had the name, We had the roaster, We had no idea!
So we fired up the roaster and gave it a crack, escuse the pun but at this stage we didn’t know that coffee even made a cracking sound like sound of popcorn when roasting. After much trial, error and laughter we cracked it.
Run much as a home business in the past, Naughty Bean Coffee has now moved into new premises in the heart of Coromandel Town with Roastery and Coffee Shop.
